Use of ID at Chigwell Road recycling centre

As from earlier this month, anyone taking waste to the Council’s recycling centre at Chigwell Road has been asked to provide two forms of ID including a Council tax bill as proof that they live in Redbridge (see item posted on 10 May below).

Roding councillors asked Council officers what should people do whose name does not appear on their home’s Council tax bill?  and are the old-fashioned driving licences without photos acceptable?

We have received the following clarification:

One ID now acceptable. An ‘old fashioned’ driver’s licence will be acceptable. The person disposing of the waste does not need to be named on the Council Tax bill. Failing all of that, if someone is unable to provide any confirmation of residence then they can write to ELWA who will check out and then issue them with a letter which will allow them to dispose of waste for one year.
